Dr. Amanda Hu, MD, FRCSC
Dr. Hu is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Otolaryngology, Department of Surgery, University of British Columbia. She is sub-specialized in care of the professional voice, airway, and swallowing disorders. She graduated from medical school at the University of Toronto, trained in residency in Otolaryngology at Western University, and completed a Laryngology fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle. She worked in Philadelphia at Drexel University for 5 years prior to joining the UBC faculty in August of 2018.
Dr. Hu is currently the Undergraduate Medical Education Director for the ENT Division at UBC where she has a leadership role in training the UBC medical students. She is actively involved with research and she is the author of 65 peer reviewed papers, 9 book chapters, and 56 conference presentations. Dr. Hu recently received the UBC Start Up Funds Research Grant from the Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Hu is the recipient of local, national, and international awards, including the Harold Myers Award for Distinguished Service from Drexel University, the Physician 40 under 40 Award from the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Dr. Hu speaks fluent Chinese and looks forward to serving the multicultural population in Vancouver.
DINUSHA PEIRIS M.Sc., RSLP
Dinusha is a registered speech-language pathologist with over 20 years experience working with a wide variety of voice and swallowing disorders. She received her M.Sc in Speech-Language Pathology from University College London, UK and spent the first ten years of her career training and working at a teaching hospital in London, UK where she was the clinical lead voice therapist.
Since moving back home to Vancouver in 2010 Dinusha has worked at different acute care hospitals, provided specialist training to peers and presented at medical conferences and is a clinical instructor at UBC.
Dinusha uses the knowledge and experience gained over the course of her career in the UK and Canada when working with people to understand their concerns and produce the most successful outcomes for her clients. She has a special interest in voice disorders related to occupational use, chronic cough and swallowing disorders.

Megan Morrison, M.Sc., RSLP
Megan Morrison has been working as a Speech-Language Pathologist in acute and rehabilitation medicine for several years, though her expertise and passion for voice go back nearly two decades. Megan received her M.Sc. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of British Columbia and also has a B.Mus. in Voice and a B.A. in Linguistics from UBC.
Megan is passionate about client-centred care and always aims to bring warmth, authenticity, and evidence-based practice to her sessions. With her unique background, both as a clinician and a performer, Megan profoundly understands the complex inter-connectivity between voice and identity. She has a broad range of clinical experience working with diverse and complex voice needs, including those of opera singers, stroke survivors, school teachers, people with neurological conditions such as Parkinson Disease, and LGBTQ individuals seeking voice training to match their gender identity. As a classically-trained singer and theatre actor, she has been a proud member of Vancouver Opera Chorus since 2008, and has performed with several other esteemed arts organizations, such as Vancouver Chamber Choir, City Opera Vancouver, and Patrick Street Productions.
